[Kainos] the Power of Team Sample
Whole Heart And Willing Mind
When David instructed Solomon, his son, to build the Temple of the Lord, he asked him to know God and to serve Him with his whole heart and with a willing mind. God chose Solomon to build His temple. He also chose David to be Solomon’s father, to guide and prepare him for such an important task. God chose the people of Israel to help Solomon build the Temple. It was never a one-man task. Building the Temple required teamwork. It involved many people with many skills, all together with one purpose: to build a house for the Ark of the Lord’s covenant.
David was preparing Solomon; he was getting him ready for what God had for his life. God wants to be known by us. Before we serve Him, we need to know Him. Only then can we obey, serve, and trust Him. Our goal as Christians is to serve God because we know Him. David knew God; that is how He gave him all the instructions to build the Temple. God wanted Solomon to know and serve Him with his whole heart and a willing mind.
Our goal as Christians, as His church, is not just that we serve Him in our generosity, in our prayers, and in our devotion. It is to be involved in everything we do for Him with our whole hearts and minds. As with Solomon and the people of Israel, we need 100% engagement in building God’s church on earth. We need people involved at every age: students, senior adults, single adults, married adults, kids, every willing person. We are all together, all part of the same team.
God desires our whole heart and a willing mind. When we serve Him wholeheartedly, we will be wholehearted in our marriage, in our singleness, in our vocation—wholehearted in everything we do. Whatever we do needs to begin with a heart for the Lord and a willing mind. As Christians, we sometimes separate heart and mind, but they work together. We should be wonderfully, incredibly intelligent-to-our-capacity Christians who love Jesus with all of our heart.
Seek the Lord. Let God speak to your heart. Then, serve Him with all your heart and mind.
About this Plan
As God’s people, we can always do so much more as a team than as one person. Let’s give our best before the Lord, and Jesus will do something amazing through us. In unison and faithfulness, let’s take a courageous step of faith, knowing that God’s hand is upon us because His heart is before us.
