DAY 5 OF 30

Constant Love

Understanding Your Value

When you think about love, you may think of your favorite romantic movie, a love song, or a relationship you admire. But the truth is, God set the greatest standard of love. Nothing can surpass His love, and we are on the receiving end of it. What sets God’s love apart? His love matches His character. It’s generous, constant, and unfailing. God doesn’t ask us to earn it - He freely gives it to us. He loves us so greatly that it would be impossible to love us any more. He loves us so unconditionally that there is nothing that will cause Him to love us less.  The Bible says in John 3:16 that “God so loved the world, He gave His only son.” God’s love is proven. He went so far as to show His love that He gave His only son for you. This is the greatest standard of love possible and it’s 100% focused on you.

To know His love, we must receive it. 1 John 4:19 says “We love because he first loved us.” Being intentional in our connection to God helps us in this. Just a few verses prior in 1 John 4:16, it says, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”

The more we know the value of love, the more we see the need to guard it. The enemy tries to convince us that we’re not worthy of love, that we can’t be forgiven, and that no one cares about what we’re going through. It’s important to recognize this for what it really is: a lie. The enemy works through difficulty, accusation, and temptation (to name a few) to disengage us from the love of God. But the greatest reality (and truth) is that God is good, and He will always love us. When we lose our awareness of God’s constant love, it’s because we’ve fixed our eyes on a lie. Nothing compares to the love of God.

Remind yourself of this today by declaring the words “God loves me.” Do this every day, and watch how this truth changes your perspective of how valued you are by your Heavenly Father.

PRAYER

God, thank You for Your perfect love for me. Your word says that You will never leave me or forsake me. Even when the world around me is inconsistent, Your love is constant. I give this day to You. Help me to experience your love for me like never before. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
