Created To BelieveSample
Our hearts were created with an amazing feature: the ability to believe. We are created to believe. Even more wonderfully, our hearts have been given the ability to believe in God.
Faith directed toward God must always pass through the channel of the heart. It is the heart that must be regenerated by the power of the Spirit. Once we experience the miracle of believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, our heart comes alive for the purposes of God.
The moment that Jesus was invited to change our heart by faith through grace, we were given His righteousness to reign and abide in our lives. This is the good news of the gospel of Christ, as well as the foundation for God’s eternal kingdom. The King regenerates our heart and enables us to live in the reality of His kingdom.
Kingdom life enables us to live our life seeing through Christ’s eyes. It enables us to demonstrate His heart to every person, in all places, in all situations, and in all areas of our life. One of the primary ways that this lifestyle becomes a reality is by thinking Jesus’s thoughts, embracing His attitude, agreeing with His decisions, and implementing His actions in our lives. We are to live in the constant reality of His life, His death, His resurrection, and His overcoming power flowing through every facet of our lives.
God’s Word shows us there is a direct correlation between our heart and thoughts. Paul helps us make this connection in the book of Romans. Many say that reading the book of John is seeing the Gospel through the eyes of the Savior, while reading the book of Acts is seeing the Gospel through the eyes of the Holy Spirit. Reading the book of Romans gives us a glimpse of the glorious message of redemption through the eyes of God, our Father.
When you believe and act in faith, you are not the one doing anything. You are simply calling out to God and trusting Him to do it for you. That is how you receive salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between Him and I!”
God is able to set things right in our heart because Jesus took our sins when He died on the cross. We receive a new heart—a heart with no hindrances, obstacles, or barriers between God and us. Our heart is free to believe and receive everything that He wants to give us.
Think big—believe!
