Romans 5:6
Romans 5:6-8 The Message (MSG)
Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
Romans 5:6 King James Version (KJV)
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 New Century Version (NCV)
When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for us, although we were living against God.
Romans 5:6 American Standard Version (ASV)
For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 New International Version (NIV)
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
While we were still helpless [powerless to provide for our salvation], at the right time Christ died [as a substitute] for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 New Living Translation (NLT)
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
