Romans 10:17-18
Romans 10:14-21 The Message (MSG)
But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims, A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of people telling all the good things of God! But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: “Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?” The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to. But haven’t there been plenty of opportunities for Israel to listen and understand what’s going on? Plenty, I’d say.
Romans 10:17-18 King James Version (KJV)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, Their sound went into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.
Romans 10:17-18 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “THEIR VOICE HAS GONE OUT INTO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD.”
Romans 10:17-18 New Century Version (NCV)
So faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ. But I ask: Didn’t people hear the Good News? Yes, they heard—as the Scripture says: “Their message went out through all the world; their words go everywhere on earth.”
Romans 10:17-18 American Standard Version (ASV)
So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.
Romans 10:17-18 New International Version (NIV)
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
Romans 10:17-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”
Romans 10:17-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ. But I say, did they not hear? Indeed they have; “THEIR VOICE [that of creation bearing God’s message] HAS GONE OUT TO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE [farthest] ENDS OF THE WORLD.” [Ps 19:4, 7-11]
Romans 10:17-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have: “The message has gone throughout the earth, and the words to all the world.”
Romans 10:17-18 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One. Can it be that Israel hasn’t heard the message? No, they have heard it, for
