John 3:19
John 3:19-21 The Message (MSG)
“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.”
John 3:19 King James Version (KJV)
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
John 3:19 New Century Version (NCV)
They are judged by this fact: The Light has come into the world, but they did not want light. They wanted darkness, because they were doing evil things.
John 3:19 American Standard Version (ASV)
And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
John 3:19 New International Version (NIV)
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
This is the judgment [that is, the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged, the basis for the sentence]: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. [Is 5:20]
John 3:19 New Living Translation (NLT)
And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.
