James 1:7-8
James 1:5-8 The Message (MSG)
If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
James 1:7-8 King James Version (KJV)
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 1:7-8 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:7-8 New Century Version (NCV)
Such doubters are thinking two different things at the same time, and they cannot decide about anything they do. They should not think they will receive anything from the Lord.
James 1:7-8 American Standard Version (ASV)
For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord; a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:7-8 New International Version (NIV)
That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
James 1:7-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:7-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable and restless in all his ways [in everything he thinks, feels, or decides].
James 1:7-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
