După două zile era sărbătoarea paștelui și a azimelor; și preoții de seamă și scribii căutau cum să îl prindă prin viclenie să îl ucidă. Dar spuneau: Nu în sărbătoare, ca nu cumva să fie tulburare a poporului.

După două zile, începea sărbătoarea Paștelor și cea a Azimelor. Liderii preoților și experții legii (mozaice) intenționau să pună în aplicare un plan perfid pentru arestarea și omorârea lui Isus. Totuși, în final au ajuns la următoarea concluzie: „Nu trebuie să Îl arestăm în timpul sărbătorii, pentru că riscăm să provocăm reacții imprevizibile din partea mulțimilor de oameni.”
