7 Days With the Master: Developing Our Relationship With Jesus Christ

DAY 5 OF 7

Trust in Him

If there is anyone you can trust with your entire life, it would be Jesus. If there’s anyone you can trust will be there no matter what, will care for you, and will not put you down, it would be Christ. Although this scripture is quoted many times, we do have to let it sink into our hearts. We do need to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, and not lean on our own understanding. Do you know where our own understanding even comes from?

Our experiences in this life. Can you agree that at times, our experiences can also give us a skewed perspective on God? What I mean is, there are times we have experienced something that has devastated us and thought it was God who did it, and then that affected our trust in Him. How can we trust someone that hurt us right? That’s not the correct perspective. We can trust in the Lord, because He would never do anything to hurt us. In fact, the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, not Jesus. We know that because Jesus tells us the difference between Him and the devil, and it’s simply this. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy our lives, and Jesus came to give us life more abundantly (John 10:10) So, leaning on our own logic, or understanding can do us more harm than good, especially when it comes to trusting in God and the plans He has for us.

In everything that we do, we are to inquire of the Lord because at times, we think we know what is right, but God will tell us plainly if we are on the right path or not. Our logic can be skewed by what other people tell us, or looking at someone else’s life and thinking that’s what should be happening in ours without realizing God made everyone differently. So acknowledging Him first, takes out what others have said, what we have thought, and puts it in the hands of the One who’s ways and thoughts are higher. It allows the Lord to go to work on our behalf and to give us the wisdom we need to fulfill what it is He wants us to do.

He directs us if we allow Him to do so, and makes our ways straight. God would never put us on a crooked path, or on the path of confusion. God places us on a straight road so that we can move forward into His ways. I want to encourage you that you can trust in God with all of your heart. If anyone has ever hurt you in the past, I want you to know that Jesus is nothing like that person. You are the apple of His eye and His prized possession. Jesus only wants to be the Good Shepherd in your life to guide you, counsel you and lead you into those green and peaceful pastures. Lean on Him and His wisdom and He will guide you onto straight paths.

Prayer for Today:

Jesus, I trust you with all of my heart. I thank You for never letting me down and always being faithful to me and to Your word. I submit every situation into Your hands and trust that you have already made a way. Lord, I ask that you cleanse my heart from any trauma and hurt that I have experienced in the past that is preventing me from moving forward in the things You have for me. By faith, I declare that I am no longer going to lean on my own understanding, and I am going to trust in You Jesus with all of my heart. Thank You for directing and ordering my steps Lord. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen”
