Proclaim

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Phil. 4:8-9)

Prompt

A wonderful thing about God is that He gives us so much to think about—so many wonderful things that thrill our hearts and cause our souls to rejoice. It’s a wealth of richness that guides us to a fulfilling, grateful life.

This makes me think about all the crazy unique things God has allowed me to do since I got sober in April of 2011. From speaking in prisons to baptizing dozens of people in horse troughs, from officiating weddings over Zoom to doing interviews on TV. All kinds of wild stuff I would have never imagined, all blessings given to me by God because I was open to Him.

Part of this life of renewal and recovery is accepting that God wants to bless us in an abundant way!

He may throw some unexpected things in there, but that’s His prerogative. Just leave your arms and heart open, leave it up to Him, and be grateful—He is a loving Father who only gives good gifts!

Take a deep breath and spread your arms wide in a posture of receptivity. Tell God you are ready for what He has next.

Jesus, thank you for giving good gifts, including the best gift of all: yourself. I’m willing to accept whatever you have for me, big or small, scary or peaceful, because I know that you are in control and you have my back at all times. Let me reflect you in the world today. Amen.
