Make powerful choices

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” – Hebrews 12:11 NIV

Molly says:

Have you ever heard of a sky-jumping elephant? Neither did I! That is until I walked into the Pudding Station and saw all the wonderful achievements of the owner and chef, who also happened to be an elephant. When we left the Word Shop, my tummy was rumbling. The yummy treats in this shop were irresistible.

There was another wonderful surprise - Amelda was there. It was great to see her again. She offered to buy me all the treats I wanted. I ate so much that the button on my school uniform shot off and smashed one of Chef El'Aphante's trophies. It was so embarrassing.

Thankfully, he did not get upset with me. He showed me an old picture of himself. He wasn't always the svelte, healthy, thrill-seeking creature he is now. There was a time when Chef El’Aphante only dreamed of doing these extreme sports, and now he is a champion.

He told me that my ability to make choices is powerful. Every day, I get to make choices that can either lead me toward my dreams or away from them.

Make powerful choices

The choices we make will determine what we can accomplish in our lives. That's why we need to make sure that we choose things that are good for us. Even choices about what we eat, what we watch, what we listen to, and what we read.

Find objects that inspire you to work hard and be disciplined.

• Certificates or trophies from past achievements.
• Draw a picture of something you dream about doing in the future.
• Something that will remind you to make healthy choices (perhaps a pebble from a hike you have been on).

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving me a Spirit of power, love, and self-control. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that helps me make good choices, even when I feel tired or weak.
