Treasure Hunt With MollySample

Your heart is your treasure chest
Molly says:
Hi! My name is Molly. I am so glad you are here, and I can't wait to share the treasure I discovered on my strange adventure to the Isle of Whimsy.
Something strange happened on my tenth birthday. We were about to leave for school when the doorbell rang. It was our local postman, George. He handed me a package. I rushed to open it. Inside the brown wrapping paper was a small treasure chest about the size of a shoebox. I tried to open it, but it was locked, and there was no key.
Mum does not like it when we are late for school, so I had to leave the treasure chest at home. I couldn't wait to finish school. I couldn't stop myself from wondering what amazing treasure could be in that box. I hoped that it would solve all my problems. Perhaps it could help our family.
It felt as if the school hours were extra long that day. It was hard being there on the best of days. Lizzy, who used to be my best friend, suddenly didn't want anything to do with me. I didn't know why.
During break time, she said something about my father, who had gone missing seven years ago. It deeply upset me, and I ran away. As I ran through the field, I slipped and hit my head. I don't remember what happened after that, but I woke up on a pirate ship.
The pirate was unusual. He had a white and blue striped handkerchief covering his wild fiery-red-hair that shined brighter than the sun. It looked like you could toast marshmallows over his beard, which was glimmering like a smouldering fire. An eye patch covered his left eye, but that did not stop the other one from staring straight into my soul. It looked like a blue sapphire. His smile made me feel like I was receiving a million hugs at once.
The ship docked in an unfamiliar and strange place near a small town called Fortuitous. There I met some wonderful creatures. They helped me prepare for a very challenging quest. I had to find the house of the Great Magician and hope that he would give me the key to open the treasure chest.
On my way, I learned some very valuable lessons. I would love to share them with you over the next few days.
Your heart is a treasure chest
Luke 6:45 says that our heart is like a treasure chest. We can store good things in it, or we can store evil things in it. Whatever we store in our hearts will determine what we experience in our lives.
How do we store good things in our hearts? We can store good things in our hearts by what we choose to think about and what we say. This is what we are going to explore together.
Create your own treasure chest or map
Design and create a treasure chest (you could use an old shoe box) or a treasure map (you could use a big piece of cardboard or a vision board to which you can pin different things). Every day I will share some ideas of what you can put into your chest or pin to your map. When there are times when you feel sad or afraid, you can go back to that treasure and remember the amazing things that are stored in your heart.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank you that you care about us. You have given us powerful hearts. Help us to store good things in it. Help us discover the treasure that is in us and around us.
We love you so much.
Amen.
