In his succinct and logical way of writing, Paul expresses the practicality of the inspiration of the Scriptures and the glory of God's inspiration.

All Scripture is God-breathed, which is a beautiful statement not just about where Scripture comes from, but how.

All Scripture is useful, which is on its face simply a practical statement. A logical "if/then." If Scripture is God-breathed, it only makes sense that it, then, would be useful.

But consider: all Scripture is God-breathed specifically to be useful to us! That's why God did it! He gave us Scripture to teach us and to train us and to correct us!

These words, written ages ago, were written with two purposes: rooted in and addressing the time and place they were written in, but inspired by God with a universal purpose, meant to encourage and enlighten and lift us up into a deeper, fuller relationship with God.
