Planting Seeds Of Biblical Truth: The Family Devotional GuideSample
Friends Need To Ask Forgiveness
TALKING TO GOD
Thank God for His forgiveness and for sending Jesus to wash away your sins.
DIVING IN
Get a bucket of popcorn and an empty bowl. Count out 70 pieces of popcorn and place them in the empty bowl. Using the bowl of 70 pieces of popcorn, explain what Jesus meant by 70 x 7 times to forgive someone. As you enjoy the popcorn together, read the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18:21-35.
GOING DEEPER
We all make mistakes. One day, Jesus’ close friend Peter made a big mistake. When people were being mean to Jesus, Peter pretended that he didn’t even know Jesus. In Luke 22:57, Peter told a woman, “I don’t know him”. Twice more he told people that he was not Jesus’ friend. When Peter realised what he had done, he was sorry. Because Jesus loved Peter, He forgave him. Forgiveness is an important part of all friendships.
TALKING TO EACH OTHER
- Have you ever hurt a friend? What happened when you asked for forgiveness?
- How has a friend hurt you? What would you do if the person asked for forgiveness?
