Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. You transplanted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land. The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. Its branches reached as far as the Sea, its shoots as far as the River. Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes? Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it. Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine, the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself. Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish. Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. Restore us, LORD God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.

O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers? You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure. You make us an object of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves. Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved! You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. It sent out its branches to the sea and its shoots to the River. Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit? The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it. Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine, the stock that your right hand planted, and for the son whom you made strong for yourself. They have burned it with fire; they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your face! But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself! Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name! Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us! Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers? You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke. Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land. You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land. Our shade covered the mountains; our branches covered the mighty cedars. We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea; our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River. But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass by may steal our fruit? The wild boar from the forest devours it, and the wild animals feed on it. Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Take care of this grapevine that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself. For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown. Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice. Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock;  you who sit enthroned between the cherubim,  shine  on Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.  Rally your power and come to save us.  Restore us, God; make your face shine on us,  so that we may be saved.  LORD God of Armies, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers?  You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure  of tears to drink.  You put us at odds with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.  Restore us, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.  You dug up a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.  You cleared a place for it; it took root and filled the land.  The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars  with its branches.  It sent out sprouts toward the Sea  and shoots toward the River.  , Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its fruit?  Boars from the forest tear at it and creatures of the field feed on it.  Return, God of Armies.  Look down from heaven and see; take care of this vine, the root  your right hand planted, the son  that you made strong for yourself.  It was cut down and burned; they  perish at the rebuke of your countenance.  Let your hand be with the man at your right hand, with the son of man you have made strong for yourself.  Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.  Restore us, LORD, God of Armies;  make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.

O LORD God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people? Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; And givest them tears to drink in great measure. Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: And our enemies laugh among themselves. Turn us again, O God of hosts, And cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: Thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. Thou preparedst room before it, And didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. The hills were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars. She sent out her boughs unto the sea, And her branches unto the river. Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, So that all they which pass by the way do pluck her? The boar out of the wood doth waste it, And the wild beast of the field doth devour it. Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, And behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. So will not we go back from thee: Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Restore us, O God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations, and planted it. You prepared room for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land. The hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its boughs. She sent out her boughs to the Sea, And her branches to the River. Why have You broken down her hedges, So that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit? The boar out of the woods uproots it, And the wild beast of the field devours it. Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, And visit this vine And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!

Listen, Shepherd, Israel’s Shepherd— get all your Joseph sheep together. Throw beams of light from your dazzling throne So Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh can see where they’re going. Get out of bed—you’ve slept long enough! Come on the run before it’s too late. God, come back! Smile your blessing smile: That will be our salvation. GOD, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, how long will you smolder like a sleeping volcano while your people call for fire and brimstone? You put us on a diet of tears, bucket after bucket of salty tears to drink. You make us look ridiculous to our friends; our enemies poke fun day after day. God-of-the-Angel-Armies, come back! Smile your blessing smile: That will be our salvation. Remember how you brought a young vine from Egypt, cleared out the brambles and briers and planted your very own vineyard? You prepared the good earth, you planted her roots deep; the vineyard filled the land. Your vine soared high and shaded the mountains, even dwarfing the giant cedars. Your vine ranged west to the Sea, east to the River. So why do you no longer protect your vine? Trespassers pick its grapes at will; Wild pigs crash through and crush it, and the mice nibble away at what’s left. God-of-the-Angel-Armies, turn our way! Take a good look at what’s happened and attend to this vine. Care for what you once tenderly planted— the vine you raised from a shoot. And those who dared to set it on fire— give them a look that will kill! Then take the hand of your once-favorite child, the child you raised to adulthood. We will never turn our back on you; breathe life into our lungs so we can shout your name! GOD, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, come back! Smile your blessing smile: That will be our salvation.

It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the Euphrates River. Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit? A boar from the forest eats it away, And whatever moves in the field feeds on it. ¶God of armies, do turn back; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine, The shoot which Your right hand has planted, And of the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish from the rebuke of Your face. Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. LORD God of armies, restore us; Make Your face shine upon us, and we will be saved.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us! Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved. ¶O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayers of Your people? You have fed them the bread of tears, And You have made them drink [bitter] tears in abundance. You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh [at our suffering] among themselves. Restore us, O God of hosts; And cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved. ¶You uprooted a vine (Israel) from Egypt; You drove out the [Canaanite] nations and planted the vine [in Canaan]. You cleared away the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land. The mountains were covered with its shadow, And its branches were like the cedars of God. Israel sent out its branches to the [Mediterranean] Sea, And its branches to the [Euphrates] River. [1 Kin 4:21] Why have You broken down its walls and hedges, So that all who pass by pick its fruit? A boar from the woods eats it away, And the insects of the field feed on it. ¶Turn again [in favor to us], O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine, Even the stock which Your right hand has planted, And [look down on] the son that You have reared and strengthened for Yourself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your [angry] appearance. Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself. Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us and we will call on Your name. Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine on us [in favor and approval], and we shall be saved.

O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor! In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us! O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you? You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure. You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us. O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it. You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land. The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches. Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River. Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it. O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine, the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow! It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them. May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself! Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you! O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
