LORD, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. To you, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?

By your favor, O LORD, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed. To you, O LORD, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy: “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?

Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered. I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying, “What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness?

LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain;  when you hid your face, I was terrified.  LORD, I called to you; I sought favor from my Lord:  “What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your truth?

LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. I cried to thee, O LORD; And unto the LORD I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth?

LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled. I cried out to You, O LORD; And to the LORD I made supplication: “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

When things were going great I crowed, “I’ve got it made. I’m GOD’s favorite. He made me king of the mountain.” Then you looked the other way and I fell to pieces. I called out to you, GOD; I laid my case before you: “Can you sell me for a profit when I’m dead? auction me off at a cemetery yard sale? When I’m ‘dust to dust’ my songs and stories of you won’t sell. So listen! and be kind! Help me out of this!”

LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed. To You, LORD, I called, And to the Lord I pleaded for compassion: “What gain is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?

By Your favor and grace, O LORD, you have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was horrified. I called to You, O LORD, And to the Lord I made supplication (specific request). “What profit is there in my blood (death), if I go down to the pit (grave)? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness [to man]?

O LORD, in your good favor you made me secure. Then you rejected me and I was terrified. To you, O LORD, I cried out; I begged the Lord for mercy: “What profit is there in taking my life, in my descending into the Pit? Can the dust of the grave praise you? Can it declare your loyalty?
