Ecclesiastes 1:14
Ecclesiastes 1:12-14 The Message (MSG)
Call me “the Quester.” I’ve been king over Israel in Jerusalem. I looked most carefully into everything, searched out all that is done on this earth. And let me tell you, there’s not much to write home about. God hasn’t made it easy for us. I’ve seen it all and it’s nothing but smoke—smoke, and spitting into the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 King James Version (KJV)
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 New Century Version (NCV)
I looked at everything done on earth and saw that it is all useless, like chasing the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 American Standard Version (ASV)
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 Amplified Bible (AMP)
I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity, a futile grasping and chasing after the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 New Living Translation (NLT)
I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind.
