Myene Language

The Myene, Myènè or Ômyèn̲è language is spoken in Gabon. It exists in a number of dialects. The Bible was translated into Union Myene by Urbain Teisserès of the Société des Missions Evangéliques de Paris (SMEP), a French Protestant missionary agency. In 1957 he published Méthode pratique pour apprendre l'ômyènè.

New Testament

In 1907 the first New Testament was published in Myènè (Nouveau Testament traduit en Galwa) as Testamènti Nyon̲a ya Reri yazô Yesu-Krist. In 1919 the New Testament was revised.

Old Testament

In 1903 The Pentetecuh was published(Le Pentateuque traduit en Galoa: Ipakilia ; Ikogwa; Levitiki; Itangô; Ivanga Nyamban̲i: kalun̲ô pa gô Nkambin̲i yi Galwa.) In 1906 Psalms were revised and published as Ijembô. In 1923 Jeremiah, Lamentations and Ezekiel were published as Yeremya, Edingô zi Yeremya Ezekyèl: kalun̲ô pa gô nkambin̲i y' Ômyèn̲è. (Jérémie, Lamentations de Jérémie Ezéchiel, traduits en Ômyèn̲è). These portions were chosen for immediate publication as the rest of the Bible was available in either the Mpongwe or the Galwa dialect. Translated by U. Teisserès of the Société des Missions évangéliques de Paris. In 1925 Genesis, Exodus, Psalms and Isaiah were published as Ipakilya. Ikogwa. Ijembô. Yezaya.
