THE SHELTER OF HIS WINGS

The presence of God is a place of protection and refuge. Psalm 91:4 assures us, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Like a mother bird shielding her young, God’s presence is a shelter where we find safety, comfort, and strength.

In Matthew 23:37, Jesus lamented over Jerusalem, saying, “How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” This tender image reveals God’s longing to draw His people into His protective embrace, shielding them from harm and guiding them through life’s challenges.

The shelter of His wings is not just a place of safety but also a place of intimacy. It is where we can lay down our burdens, rest in His care, and draw strength for the journey ahead. His truth becomes our shield, guarding us against the lies of the enemy and the uncertainties of life.

God invites us to dwell in this shelter, but it requires trust and surrender. Just as a chick runs under its mother’s wings instinctively, we are called to run to God, trusting Him to be our refuge and fortress.
