Tonight We Pray for the Momma: Hope for the Midnight Moments of Motherhoodಮಾದರಿ
For the Momma Experiencing Uncertainty or Transition
“Good afternoon. This is Crystal Bellmore calling.” The voicemails all began the same way. Crystal was the information liaison for the district where my kids attended school in March 2020, and each of her automated and prerecorded phone calls brought a new level of uncertainty to our already disrupted lives.
As parents, we just wanted our children to be safe. That time was full of unanswered questions and chaos. We didn’t know what was coming next, but we wanted to make the right choices for our kids. All we could do was trust God and pray.
The early church also faced a time of great unpredictability, shortly after James, John's brother, was captured and put to death by the sword. Now, the authorities had placed Peter in chains and put him in prison under guard. There was much persecution of the church by the religious and government leaders. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen next.
The authorities planned to put Peter on trial after the Feast of the Passover. Meanwhile, “the church was earnestly praying to God for him” (Acts 12:5, NIV).
While they were praying, the answer was already on its way. An angel had come to the prison and brought Peter past the gates and guards and through the city to safety. When he arrived at the house where the people were praying, Peter knocked. Rhoda, a servant, came to the door. “When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, ‘Peter is at the door!’” (Acts 12:14, NIV).
Momma, in the times of greatest trouble, the most powerful weapon we have is the power of prayer. The apostle Paul reminds us: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4, NIV). Just like the early church prayed for Peter and the angel came to release him from prison, our prayers have the power to pull down anything that has a stronghold in our lives.
Tonight, we encourage you to wield the most powerful weapon of prayer against difficulty and confusion. Watch as the answers come. Recognize them. Open the door and receive them.
Tonight, we pray for the momma who is tired of uncertainty. Lord, life lately has been a lot. It has been full of unanswered questions. She needs the assurance that You have it all under control. Lord, please be her hope and her peace. Help her rest and know that You’re working it out. We ask in Jesus’s name, amen.

About this Plan
Momma, midnight isn’t just a time on a clock. It can represent all the hard, heavy, or hidden places in a momma’s heart. It’s in these midnight moments—the ones where you feel discouragement, anxiety, uncertainty, exhaustion, grief, or simply the weight of any one thing so heavy on your heart—that we offer hope. Let’s look to the Lord to give us peace. Let’s find healing in Him.
