This story is just one example of the countless times Jesus healed the sick and restored the broken. Reading about this miracle stirs a faith in me that God can still bring healing today. However, I’ve wrestled with believing that God can do anything while accepting that He doesn’t always do what I am praying for. Maybe you feel the same way. I had a wavering faith when it came to healing because I never saw it happen in my own life. The man in this miracle had some kind of faith to actually believe he could be healed if he could just enter the pool. Although his faith was in the water, you and I know that it wasn’t the water that had the healing abilities. The power came from God. It’s our faith in God that allows us to see him work in our lives - whatever way he sees fit! Something this sick man knew that I think can inspire us today is that where he laid his life determined where he’d find his healing.
Are you positioned to receive God’s healing? Are you believing God can heal you from your spiritual, physical, emotional, or mental state you are in? The man was positioned by the water. While he couldn’t get in the water himself, he positioned his body as close as he could to the healing. We need to position ourselves and be ready to obey when Jesus calls us to pick up our mats. We can position ourselves by reading His word daily, becoming obedient when the Holy Spirit instructs us, and work through the strongholds and poor habits that can hinder our faith and cause it too waver.
“Our prayer is for you to receive the healing that God desires to give you today.
Respond:
Find the place you feel closest to God and position yourself there often for devotional reading and prayer as you seek healing and become ready to obey when God responds.
