Made To Move Mountains

DAY 7 OF 7

Day 7

The Power of God’s Word

We know we will face obstacles and challenges in life. We understand the enemy is relentless, and he will remind us of our failures and speak lies and discouragement into our hearts. Today, you might not be okay.

At these moments, we do everything we can think of to resolve the struggle in our souls.  And life sort of feels like quicksand—the harder we struggle, the deeper we sink.

At many times in my journey, I’ve longed for a how-to book with step-by-step instructions that would shed some light on the tough-to-navigate phases and challenges. But this is what the Bible is for! One thing can refresh and renew and save our souls, and that is the Word of God. It’s fresh breath on the stale days you are dying for oxygen.

Yet often it’s the last place we turn. It seems crazy to think a book can be the answer, but God, our Father, gave us this incredible guide for daily living. All we have to do is read it, which sadly is often our greatest challenge. You may be a lot like me—I struggle to make Bible reading a priority. When I do, I never regret the time I spend in the Word of God. It encourages, reminds, corrects, and inspires me again and again. It holds the answers my heart longs to hear.

It is alive and active and penetrates the broken and hardened places in our hearts. Our situation or struggle may not dissolve overnight, but in the Words he has given us, we can find solace and comfort and strength to continue climbing the mountainside.

God, your Word is “a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.” Today as I read your words, direct me to your answers to my questions and your wisdom for my circumstances. Thank you for providing me with guidance over this mountain I face.

About this Plan

Made To Move Mountains

Mountain climbers call the area above 26,247 feet on Mount Everest the “death zone,” because thin air makes people weak and prone to fatal mistakes. Though most of us never plan to scale Everest, we understand the struggle to breathe, think clearly, and find the will to conquer life’s toughest obstacles. This week, Mercy House founder Kristen Welch offers a new view of life’s mountains, plus strategies for conquering them.
