If you sin without knowing what you’re doing, God takes that into account. But if you sin knowing full well what you’re doing, that’s a different story entirely. Merely hearing God’s law is a waste of your time if you don’t do what he commands. Doing, not hearing, is what makes the difference with God.

For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law

For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law

People who do not have the law and who are sinners will be lost, although they do not have the law. And, in the same way, those who have the law and are sinners will be judged by the law.

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.

When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it.

When people who have never been exposed to the laws of Moses commit sin, they will still perish for what they do. And those who are under the law of Moses and fail to obey it are condemned by the law.

For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
