Psalms 74:16-20
Psalms 74:9-21 The Message (MSG)
There’s not a sign or symbol of God in sight, nor anyone to speak in his name, no one who knows what’s going on. How long, God, will barbarians blaspheme, enemies curse and get by with it? Why don’t you do something? How long are you going to sit there with your hands folded in your lap? God is my King from the very start; he works salvation in the womb of the earth. With one blow you split the sea in two, you made mincemeat of the dragon Tannin. You lopped off the heads of Leviathan, then served them up in a stew for the animals. With your finger you opened up springs and creeks, and dried up the wild floodwaters. You own the day, you own the night; you put stars and sun in place. You laid out the four corners of earth, shaped the seasons of summer and winter. Mark and remember, GOD, all the enemy taunts, each idiot desecration. Don’t throw your lambs to the wolves; after all we’ve been through, don’t forget us. Remember your promises; the city is in darkness, the countryside violent. Don’t leave the victims to rot in the street; make them a choir that sings your praises.
Psalms 74:16-20 King James Version (KJV)
The day is thine, the night also is thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made summer and winter. Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, And that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: Forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever. Have respect unto the covenant: For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
Psalms 74:16-20 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun. You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter. Remember this, O LORD, that the enemy has reviled, And a foolish people has spurned Your name. Do not deliver the soul of Your turtledove to the wild beast; Do not forget the life of Your afflicted forever. Consider the covenant; For the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
Psalms 74:16-20 New Century Version (NCV)
Both the day and the night are yours; you made the sun and the moon. You set all the limits on the earth; you created summer and winter. LORD, remember how the enemy insulted you. Remember how those foolish people made fun of you. Do not give us, your doves, to those wild animals. Never forget your poor people. Remember the agreement you made with us, because violence fills every dark corner of this land.
Psalms 74:16-20 American Standard Version (ASV)
The day is thine, the night also is thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made summer and winter. Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Jehovah, And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name. Oh deliver not the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast: Forget not the life of thy poor for ever. Have respect unto the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence.
Psalms 74:16-20 New International Version (NIV)
The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter. Remember how the enemy has mocked you, LORD, how foolish people have reviled your name. Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever. Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.
Psalms 74:16-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun. You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter. Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, And that a foolish people has blasphemed Your name. Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever. Have respect to the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the haunts of cruelty.
Psalms 74:16-20 Amplified Bible (AMP)
The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have established and prepared the [heavenly] light and the sun. You have defined and established all the borders of the earth [the divisions of land and sea and of the nations]; You have made summer and winter. [Acts 17:26] ¶Remember this, O LORD, the enemy has scoffed, And a foolish and impious people has spurned Your name. Oh, do not hand over the soul of your turtledove to the wild beast; Do not forget the life of Your afflicted forever. Consider the covenant [You made with Abraham], For the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
Psalms 74:16-20 New Living Translation (NLT)
Both day and night belong to you; you made the starlight and the sun. You set the boundaries of the earth, and you made both summer and winter. See how these enemies insult you, LORD. A foolish nation has dishonored your name. Don’t let these wild beasts destroy your turtledoves. Don’t forget your suffering people forever. Remember your covenant promises, for the land is full of darkness and violence!
Psalms 74:16-20 The Passion Translation (TPT)
You own the day and the night. Sunlight and starlight call you Creator. The four corners of the earth were formed by your hands, and every changing season owes its beauty to you. O YAHWEH, don’t ever forget how these arrogant enemies, like fools, have mocked your name. Lord, aren’t we your beloved dove that praises you? Protect us from these wild beasts who want to harm us. Don’t leave us as lambs among wolves! You can’t abandon us after all we’ve been through! Remember your promises to us, for darkness covers the land, giving the violent ones a hiding place.
Psalms 74:16-20 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Yours is the day, yours also the night; you have established the heavenly lights and the sun. You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter. Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs, and a foolish people reviles your name. Do not deliver the soul of your dove to the wild beasts; do not forget the life of your poor forever. Have regard for the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
