Psalms 6:4-9
Psalms 6:4-9 New Living Translation (NLT)
Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave? I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 The Message (MSG)
Break in, GOD, and break up this fight; if you love me at all, get me out of here. I’m no good to you dead, am I? I can’t sing in your choir if I’m buried in some tomb! I’m tired of all this—so tired. My bed has been floating forty days and nights On the flood of my tears. My mattress is soaked, soggy with tears. The sockets of my eyes are black holes; nearly blind, I squint and grope. Get out of here, you Devil’s crew: at last GOD has heard my sobs. My requests have all been granted, my prayers are answered.
Psalms 6:4-9 King James Version (KJV)
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: Oh save me for thy mercies' sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: In the grave who shall give thee thanks? I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. Mine eye is consumed because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine enemies. Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; For the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD hath heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness. For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks? I am weary with my sighing; Every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears. My eye has wasted away with grief; It has become old because of all my adversaries. Depart from me, all you who do iniquity, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD has heard my supplication, The LORD receives my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 New Century Version (NCV)
LORD, return and save me; save me because of your kindness. Dead people don’t remember you; those in the grave don’t praise you. I am tired of crying to you. Every night my bed is wet with tears; my bed is soaked from my crying. My eyes are weak from so much crying; they are weak from crying about my enemies. Get away from me, all you who do evil, because the LORD has heard my crying. The LORD has heard my cry for help; the LORD will answer my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 American Standard Version (ASV)
Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul: Save me for thy lovingkindness’ sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: In Sheol who shall give thee thanks? I am weary with my groaning; Every night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. Mine eye wasteth away because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine adversaries. Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; For Jehovah hath heard the voice of my weeping. Jehovah hath heard my supplication; Jehovah will receive my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 New International Version (NIV)
Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave? I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your [unfailing] steadfast love and mercy. For in death there is no mention of You; In Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) who will praise You and give You thanks? ¶I am weary with my groaning; Every night I soak my bed with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping. My eye grows dim with grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. ¶Depart from me, all you who do evil, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. [Matt 7:23; Luke 13:27] The LORD has heard my supplication [my plea for grace]; The LORD receives my prayer.
Psalms 6:4-9 The Passion Translation (TPT)
YAHWEH, turn to me and rescue my life because I know your faithful love will never fail me. In the darkness of death who remembers your name in worship? How could I bring you praise if I’m buried in a tomb? I’m worn out with my weeping and groaning. Night after night I soak my pillow with tears, and flood my bed with weeping. My eyes of faith won’t focus anymore, for sorrow fills my heart. There are so many enemies who come against me! Turn from me, all you troublemakers! For YAHWEH has turned to hear the sound of my weeping. Yes! YAHWEH my healer has heard all my pleading and has taken hold of my prayers and answered them all.
Psalms 6:4-9 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise? I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.
