Freedom From Money StressSample
Hey Friend!
Let me state the obvious. Money can often be stressful, right?
While it does help us get food, clothing, housing, and sometimes fun stuff, it may just be the number one cause of many of our worries.
Money stress can feel like a heavy chain, binding us with worry and fear, making us incapable of living in our callings.
But Jesus offers a different perspective.
In Matthew 6:24-26, He says, "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
This passage invites us to shift our focus from money to God.
It's not that money doesn't matter, but rather that it shouldn't be our master.
When we prioritize our relationship with God, we gain a new perspective on our finances.
Hebrews 13:5-6 reinforces this: "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.' So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'"
And remember the comforting words of Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
When we view God as our provider, it changes how we see our resources and needs.
Today, take a moment to reflect on your relationship with money.
Are there areas where financial concerns have become all-consuming? Bring these to God in prayer. Ask Him to help you see your situation from His perspective.
Next, make a list of ways God has provided for you in the past.
Reflecting on God's faithfulness can ease present anxieties.
This will likely be a journey and not an instant fix.
Be patient with yourself as you learn to trust God more fully with your finances.
See you tomorrow for Day 2, Friend :-)
