The Call to Generate Spiritual Children

DAY 2 OF 5

The Importance of Discipleship

Discipleship is one of the primary ways we bear spiritual fruit. Jesus left us a clear example of how to invest in the lives of others. He spent three years with His disciples, teaching, correcting, and preparing them to continue His work after His ascension.

Paul, the apostle and missionary, followed this example. In his letters, he often referred to his converts as "children" in the faith. He invested time, energy, and resources in teaching, correcting, and encouraging these new believers. In 1 Corinthians 4:15, Paul explains that although they may have many guardians in Christ, they do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus, he became their father through the gospel.

Discipleship involves commitment and sacrifice. It is not just a one-time act but an ongoing process of guidance and support. It means being willing to walk alongside someone, helping them grow in their faith and live according to Jesus' teachings. This intentional investment in others' lives is essential for the growth of the Body of Christ.

On this second day of the devotional, consider how you can respond to Jesus' call to disciple others. Ask God to show you people in your life who need spiritual guidance. Pray for the wisdom, patience, and love necessary to invest in these individuals' lives. May we be like Paul, willing to be spiritual parents and guide others on the path of faith.

About this Plan

The Call to Generate Spiritual Children

Onan sought pleasure without generating children for his brother, disobeying God. Jesus, our elder brother, calls us to generate spiritual children, not just for our personal satisfaction. This five-day devotional will guide you to reflect on how to fulfill this call with faithfulness.
