Free on the Streets: Seeing the World Differently

DAY 1 OF 5

Frontside 180

Jansen Horrocks

READY:

“I will give them integrity of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh,”—Ezekiel 11:19

SET:

Have you ever gotten so broken off on a skateboard that it left you crawling away? If you've been skating for at least a week you probably know exactly what I am talking about. I remember one specific time I was trying to do a Sal Flip on a 6-7" concrete quarter pipe, for some reason as I flipped the board and went to smack the tail, I missed… big mistake. I had a shock wave of pain shoot through my ribs. That slam left me with a few broken ribs for the next couple of months. During the recovery, I remember thinking, "Once I'm healed, I'm going to make sure I land not only that trick but the other 20 tricks I am dreaming of". When you're out of commission you can't help but obsess with getting back to doing what you love. I was determined that soon I would be healed and be back on my board with a new mindset focused on giving it my all.

Ezekiel 11:19 has a lot to do with our broken lives. It is a prophetic word that Ezekiel received from the Spirit of the Lord (Ezekiel 11:5). In this time this was written, Israel was broken, and the people were living a life apart from God. Ezekiel was shown a message from the Lord that promised He would give the people a new spirit and take away their stony, stubborn hearts with tender, responsive hearts. This referred to the coming of Jesus, who would pay the penalty for their sins and make them new.

Just like being broken and longing to get better in skateboarding. God has allowed us to do a Frontside 180 and find healing through His son Jesus Christ. Verse 20 says, "that they may walk in my statues…", not only can we be healed but when we are, we will want to honor the Lord in our lives and walk (or skate) with a brand-new mindset.

GO:

Does it ever feel like you have a brokenness that needs to be healed? Did you ever give God the chance to transform your life?

WORKOUT:

2 Corinthians 5:17

Colossians 3:9-10

Psalm 51:10

OVERTIME:

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask today that You come into my life and heal me of my brokenness. Please give me a new life through Jesus Christ, who I believe is the savior of all. And Lord, create in me a clean heart and forgive me of my sins, so that I may walk boldly in your footsteps. Amen.

Day 2

About this Plan

Free on the Streets: Seeing the World Differently

We as skateboarders see the world differently. Where the average person might see mundane architecture and concrete, we see the creative possibilities within the urban terrain or skate park. And just like skateboarders, when we trust Jesus Christ for salvation and become Christians, our hearts and minds are transformed. We see the world differently and our worldview changes in knowing Jesus.
