7 Prayers for Your MarriageSample

7 Prayers for Your Marriage

DAY 1 OF 7

A CHRIST-CENTERED MARRIAGE

A healthy, lasting marriage begins with a rock-solid foundation. When you and your spouse make Christ the highest priority in your lives, not only will your relationship with Him deepen and grow, but so will your marriage.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus compared a wise person with a foolish person. What separated the two was not their respective tax brackets, education, or the opinion of others. It was the foundation of the houses they built. One was built on sand and the other was built on a rock.

In our culture today, people center their lives around those things they think will sustain them. Some build wealth or their résumé. Others chase political power or physical attractiveness. And the daily news feed shows the results. The stock market dips. Lay-offs happen. The body deteriorates. Nothing in this world lasts forever–except for God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). When we make Him the center of our lives and marriage, we know that whatever happens, our marriage will stand firm because it is built on the Rock of Ages.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing us together in Your perfect timing. In this journey together, help us build our relationship on You as our unwavering foundation. Help us to seek You and Your Kingdom above everything else. Help us show grace toward one another as we continually learn how to do life together. We want to abide in You daily and seek Your desires for us. Give us a passion for Your Word and allow it to shape our lives to be more like Christ. Prepare and equip us for the future and the purposes You have for our marriage and blended family. May all things be for Your fame and Your renown. Amen.
