DAY 3 OF 4

Steadiness of God's Healing Power

Have you ever had a broken heart? Has healing from your broken heart felt so far away? Well, if you're anything like me, you've dealt with the pain of heartbreak in more ways than one. For me, a failed relationship that I thought would last forever felt like an earth-shattering event that I would never recover from. My heart felt like it was broken into a million pieces.

As I looked to God for answers and healing, I found the greatest sense of comfort in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." This Scripture became my daily affirmation. I recited these words aloud while standing in the mirror with tears streaming down my face until I had the courage to face a new day. This Scripture and many others gave me hope for brighter days. It also showed me that the Lord desires to be my comforter. Over time, my broken heart began to mend because I started believing the words I spoke over my life every day.

Yet, while I know what it's like to have a broken heart, I also know what it's like to experience the steadiness of God's healing power. I love how Psalm 147:3 explains the healing power of God, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." This Scripture shows us that God doesn't just focus on one area in our lives that needs healing; He's concerned about all our wounds. It also confirms that He doesn't want us to bear the weight of our hurt or pain alone.

As we surrender to the healing power of God, our job is to remember that He's close enough to save us when our spirits are crushed. As believers, we have access to a God who will answer us when we cry out to Him in prayer. We also have access to a God who will give us strategies for our lives, even when we don't understand why we're going through various trials. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding, In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." When we draw close to God during difficulties, it creates opportunities for Him to reveal His healing power to us.

Reflection

  • What will it take for you to surrender to God's healing power?

Declaration

Healing is filled with many layers. Once I find my gateway to begin healing, the possibilities are endless. May I find and recognize my path toward steadfast healing with focus and intention.
