How Christians Can Celebrate Chanukah

DAY 3 OF 8

"Celebrating Chanukah – 3rd Night"

God has made His wonders to be remembered (Psalm 111:4)! We will remember.

On this third night of Chanukah, we reflect far back in the history of Israel to the miracle of light that was performed by the God of light. In Messianic Judaism, we also reflect on the Light of the World, Yeshua (Jesus). We place three candles in the Chanukiah lampstand from right to left. We light the center Servant Candle and use its flame to light each Chanukah candle in succession from left to right. We recite Chanukah blessings and celebrate both Chanukah’s miracle of light and the Light of the World, Yeshua.

Chanukah Blessings

Blessed are You, LORD, our God, king of the universe, Who has sanctified us by His commandments and has given us Yeshua the Messiah, the light of the world.

Blessed are You, LORD, our God, king of the universe, Who has performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time.

God is Light!

“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5).

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4 TLV).

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

GOD, Your holiness and purity are so bright that You, in fact, are light! Thank You that there is no darkness in You. Thank You for Your light and the life You give us. May Your perfect light chase darkness from the corners of our lives so that we may live freely in Your light. We wait eagerly for the day when we will see Your brightness and the full beauty of Your light. May we shine Your light of truth in dark places and glorify You.

Thank you, Father, for being Light and giving us the light of truth - Yeshua.
