Where Is Your Hope?Sample
WALKING IN HOPE WITH JESUS
As a follower of Jesus, you need to understand:
Reading the Bible is an essential part of being a follower of Jesus. The way to get to know God and how He wants us to live is by reading the Bible. In the Bible it says, "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16).
Praying is key to growing in your relationship with God. Right now, it may seem like a foreign concept, and that is ok! Even Jesus' first followers asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Let that be your first prayer. "Lord teach me how to pray!" Praying is simply communicating with God. It is talking to God, and listening to what He has to say to you. As you get to know God through reading your Bible, you will learn how to hear His voice (not audibly but inside you) better. You will also grow your trust in Him, believing that He cares and is listening to you, too!
Becoming involved with a local church of Bible-believing followers of Jesus is super important! The church will be able to encourage you as you begin this new journey following Jesus. At the church, the people will help you learn more about being a follower of Jesus. We want you to get involved in a good church that teaches truth from the Bible. Not all churches are true followers of Jesus. If you are not sure of one in your area, please contact us, and we will assist you in finding one.
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey. A journey of ups and downs, but one that is very well worth it. Jesus never promised us following Him would be easy. In fact, He said the opposite. He said, "In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33). However, He also said He would "never leave you" (Hebrews 13:5). Always keep your focus on Jesus. When things are good, look to Him. When times are tough, look to Him. As one of His followers, your hope is no longer in the things of the world, but in Jesus. Even in the worst of times, you can have an abundant relationship with Jesus. No matter what happens, you have the hope of spending forever in Heaven with Him. That is much greater than anything the world has to offer you.
