God Is With You, Always

DAY 3 OF 5

The Israelites

For hundreds of years, the Israelites, God’s chosen people, were enslaved by the Egyptians. Generations after generation longed for freedom, and many of them never saw it. Many of the people of God likely lost hope in ever getting out of captivity, but God made a way.

Through the faithfulness of a mother, God saved an Israelite baby named Moses, and Moses was eventually adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter. While growing up in the royal household, Moses began to see the mistreatment of God’s people. Eventually, he killed an Egyptian officer and fled the country, hiding out in a desert country called Midian.

Many years God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery. Moses didn’t know how He could be used in that way, but God assured him that He would make a way for it to work.

Moses had to step out and trust God even when it seemed impossible, and eventually, God made a way for Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

As the entire nature was leaving Egypt, though, Pharaoh changed his mind about letting them go, and he sent His armies to get them back. Moses and the Israelites arrived at the Red Sea, and the army was approaching behind them. They were surrounded. They were trapped, but God made a way.

He opened up the sea so that His people could walk right through it in peace. After the Israelites were out, God closed the sea again, saving Israel from the Egyptians once and for all.

In the same way, God can make a way for you to walk through your trial in peace. As you will see in today’s scripture, he responds to those who cry to Him. He listens and He comes alongside them. Turn to Him in your troubles, and He will fight your battles for you and with you. Pray that He helps you trust in Him to fight for you.
