You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry—now restore us! You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger. But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter. Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies? Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us! God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth. Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies. Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor. You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles. You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling. But you have raised a banner for those who fear you— a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. God has promised this by his holiness: “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.

Heal its fissures, for it shudders.  You have made your people suffer hardship; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.  You have given a signal flag to those who fear you, so that they can flee before the archers.  , Selah Save with your right hand, and answer me, so that those you love may be rescued.  God has spoken in his sanctuary:  “I will celebrate! I will divide up Shechem.  I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.  Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is my helmet;  Judah is my scepter.  Moab is my washbasin.  I throw my sandal on Edom;  I shout in triumph over Philistia.”  Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?  God, haven’t you rejected us? God, you do not march out with our armies.  Give us aid against the foe, for human help is worthless.  With God we will perform valiantly;  he will trample our foes.

O God, thou hast cast us off, thou has scattered us, Thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: Heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: Thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. That thy beloved may be delivered; Save with thy right hand, and hear me. God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, And mete out the valley of Succoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; Moab is my washpot; Over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me into Edom? Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? And thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? Give us help from trouble: For vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver. Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.” Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies? Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

God! you walked off and left us, kicked our defenses to bits And stomped off angry. Come back. Oh please, come back! You shook earth to the foundations, ripped open huge crevasses. Heal the breaks! Everything’s coming apart at the seams. You made your people look doom in the face, then gave us cheap wine to drown our troubles. Then you planted a flag to rally your people, an unfurled flag to look to for courage. Now do something quickly, answer right now, so the one you love best is saved. That’s when God spoke in holy splendor, “Bursting with joy, I make a present of Shechem, I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift. Gilead’s in my pocket, to say nothing of Manasseh. Ephraim’s my hard hat, Judah my hammer; Moab’s a scrub bucket, I mop the floor with Moab, Spit on Edom, rain fireworks all over Philistia.” Who will take me to the thick of the fight? Who’ll show me the road to Edom? You aren’t giving up on us, are you, God? refusing to go out with our troops? Give us help for the hard task; human help is worthless. In God we’ll do our very best; he’ll flatten the opposition for good.

You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger. You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah That Your beloved may be rescued, Save us with Your right hand, and answer us! ¶God has spoken in His holiness: “I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem, and measure out the Valley of Succoth. “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter. “Moab is My washbowl; I will throw My sandal over Edom; Shout loud, Philistia, because of Me!” ¶Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom? Have You Yourself not rejected us, God? And will You not go out with our armies, God? Oh give us help against the enemy, For rescue by man is worthless. Through God we will do valiantly, And it is He who will trample down our enemies.

O God, You have rejected us and cast us off. You have broken [down our defenses and scattered] us; You have been angry; O restore us and turn again to us. You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its rifts, for it shakes and totters. You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger and fall. You have set up a banner for those who fear You [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder—a banner to shield them from attack], A banner that may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. That Your beloved ones may be rescued, Save with Your right hand and answer us. ¶God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]: “I will rejoice, I will divide [the land of] Shechem and measure out the Valley of Succoth [west to east]. “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim is My helmet; Judah is My scepter. “Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe [in triumph]; Over Philistia I raise the shout [of victory].” ¶Who will bring me into the besieged city [of Petra]? Who will lead me to Edom? Have You not rejected us, O God? And will You not go out with our armies? Give us help against the enemy, For the help of man is worthless (ineffectual, without purpose). Through God we will have victory, For He will trample down our enemies.

O God, you have rejected us. You suddenly turned on us in your anger. Please restore us! You made the earth quake; you split it open. Repair its breaches, for it is ready to fall. You have made your people experience hard times; you have made us drink intoxicating wine. You have given your loyal followers a rallying flag, so that they might seek safety from the bow. (Selah) Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe. God has spoken in his sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem; the Valley of Succoth I will measure off. Gilead belongs to me, as does Manasseh! Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my royal scepter. Moab is my washbasin. I will make Edom serve me. I will shout in triumph over Philistia.” Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will bring me to Edom? Have you not rejected us, O God? O God, you do not go into battle with our armies. Give us help against the enemy, for any help men might offer is futile. By God’s power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies.
