Psalms 4:6-8
Psalms 4:6-8 The Message (MSG)
Why is everyone hungry for more? “More, more,” they say. “More, more.” I have God’s more-than-enough, More joy in one ordinary day Than they get in all their shopping sprees. At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep, For you, GOD, have put my life back together.
Psalms 4:6-8 King James Version (KJV)
There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up The light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: For thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:6-8 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Many are saying, “Who will show us any good?” Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD! You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:6-8 New Century Version (NCV)
Many people ask, “Who will give us anything good?” LORD, be kind to us. But you have made me very happy, happier than they are, even with all their grain and new wine. I go to bed and sleep in peace, because, LORD, only you keep me safe.
Psalms 4:6-8 American Standard Version (ASV)
Many there are that say, Who will show us any good? Jehovah, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than they have when their grain and their new wine are increased. In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For thou, Jehovah, alone makest me dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:6-8 New International Version (NIV)
Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:6-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶Many are saying, “Oh, that we might see some good!” Lift up the light of Your face upon us, O LORD. You have put joy in my heart, More than [others know] when their wheat and new wine have yielded abundantly. In peace [and with a tranquil heart] I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety and confident trust.
Psalms 4:6-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
Psalms 4:6-8 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Lord, prove them wrong when they say, “God can’t help you!” Let the light of your radiant face break through and shine upon us! The intense pleasure you give me surpasses the gladness of harvest time, even more than when the harvesters gaze upon their ripened grain and when their new wine overflows. Now, because of you, Lord, I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once, for no matter what happens, I will live unafraid!
Psalms 4:6-8 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!” You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
