The Faithful Touch

Faith is a necessary component for a miraculous touch from Jesus. For example, the healing of the woman with the issue of blood, alongside the raising of Jairus’ daughter, their faith was definitely noticed by Jesus. Faith is often a precursor to receiving healing or grace. The touches of Jesus encourage in us a call to action that not only demonstrates His active love but also calls His followers to action. We are encouraged to reach out to others with compassion, much like Jesus did, extending His love and grace into the world.

Many accounts highlight that Jesus emphasized the importance of faith before performing a healing. For example, in Matthew 9:29, two blind men followed along behind Him, recognizing Jesus as the “Son of David.” They were so determined to talk to Jesus that they followed Him right into the house where He was staying, like stray cats! Jesus recognized their faith and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen,” emphasizing their belief enabled their healing.

Also, there was a distraught father who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus in Mark 9:17-27. The boy was often tormented by the demons, hurting the boy. The father cried out to Jesus and asked for His mercy, pleading for Jesus to help. The father hesitated by saying, “If you can.” Jesus responded, “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly confesses his unbelief and needs Jesus’ touch, too! Jesus compassionately heals both the boy of his demon and the father of his unbelief.

Healing touches of Jesus' ministry expresses His faithfulness in several profound ways:

• His willingness to heal reflects His faithfulness to His nature as a loving and caring Savior, showing that He is attentive to human needs.

• Healing underscores His faithfulness in restoring individuals to a right relationship with God and with themselves.

• Jesus frequently linked healing to faith, showing that He honors the trust that people place in Him. This interaction reinforces the idea that He is reliable and true to His Word.

Today, believers experience God’s faithfulness as Jesus continues demonstrating His ongoing work. As He touches lives, each one fosters hope and assures His followers, reminding them of His unwavering support. In these ways, healing serves as a powerful expression of Jesus’ faithfulness, illustrating His commitment to His people throughout history and in contemporary life. Jesus is faithful to heal!
