Take Encouragement Back

DAY 3 OF 4

Get Up! He's Calling you

Mark 10:49 TLV
Yeshua stopped and said, “Call him over.” So they called the blind man, saying, “Take heart! Get up, He’s calling you!”

On Day 2 of this devotional series, we explored why pain, even discouragement, is sometimes permitted. We also learned that Jesus is not indifferent to our suffering, and just as Elijah felt discouraged—perhaps even depressed—when the Lord spoke to him in the cave, the second time was outside of it, encouraging him to return to his prophetic task.

Today, based on this verse, I want to encourage you: the Lord is calling you. Bartimaeus, a blind man from Jericho, began to cry out for mercy when he heard that Jesus was passing by. That cry, that call, was the key for Jesus to attend to him. Many times, we lack persistence in prayer; asking for help and recognizing our need is not a sign of weakness but an acknowledgment that we cannot do it alone and that Jesus is attentive to our cries for help, just as Peter cried out when he was sinking in the water out of fear.

Returning to Bartimaeus, when he called Jesus’ attention, His disciples told him, "Take heart; the Master is calling you." He presented himself before the Lord, and Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" Bartimaeus replied with something interesting, expressed in translations like Reina Valera 1960, Las Américas, Arcas Fernández, and others, saying, "that I may receive my sight." And I believe you know where I’m going with this—at some point, Bartimaeus could see! But I want to focus this ability to see not just on the natural, but on the spiritual and the vision of life. Discouragement makes us lose sight of life and makes us lose our way... But today, Jesus is calling you! Take heart; today you have the opportunity to come before the Lord and regain your sight. Look again, dream again! Try again!

Did you know that your vision determines how far you go? Read with me Genesis 13:15 MSG "After Lot separated from him, God said to Abram, “Open your eyes, look around. Look north, south, east, and west. Everything you see, the whole land spread out before you, I will give to you and your children forever. I’ll make your descendants like dust—counting your descendants will be as impossible as counting the dust of the Earth. So—on your feet, get moving! Walk through the country, its length and breadth; I’m giving it all to you.”... Can you imagine if Abraham's vision had been short? His inheritance would have been small. Today, regain your courage to dream, return to your service, to have a relationship with Jesus once more.

It’s time to get up; it’s time to present ourselves to Jesus. May our prayer be heard so we can be restored once again. Move forward! Be encouraged; Jesus is calling you today!

About this Plan

Take Encouragement Back

Encouragement provides the strength and energy to take action, make decisions, or face challenges. However, life's difficulties can wear down that encouragement. When discouragement sets in, it can negatively affect us, starting as a feeling or thought and potentially deepening into something more spiritual. Today, through the lens of Scripture, we will learn how to overcome it.
