Merciful Moments for M.O.M.SSýnishorn
M- Move Forward Each Day
I was at a crossroads. My daughter was ready for preschool, but the pandemic was raging. Until now, she spent most of her life in the safety and security of her family. Will she be ok? How will she adjust? While these questions arose, my husband and I decided to start her in school. Ultimately, God will continue to cover, protect and keep her. I’m grateful that we didn’t stay paralyzed by fear and trusted God with her next step.
When making decisions, I often over-analyze the situation or my options to the point that I end up not doing anything. I’m too busy trying to predict and work out all the possible outcomes. If we try to control everything and move ahead of God, we are not fully depending on Him. The result is that we often miss out on His great plans for us! Wanting to control every area of our lives leaves us overwhelmed, drained, and leaves no room for God to enter and move on our behalf.
As Moms, God calls us to continue to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor: 5:7) and seek God’s Word for ongoing direction and guidance. (Psalm 119:105)
When we are uncertain about the way to go, God continues to lead us.
Amidst uncertainty, many women and men moved forward in faith in the Bible.
When Sarah was uncertain if she would conceive, she moved forward. (Hebrews 11:11)
When Ruth was uncertain of how her life would turn out in a foreign land, she moved forward. (Ruth 1:16)
As we begin to invite and receive God’s mercy more, we can move forward with confidence knowing that God is with us and won’t abandon us. With each decision we make, God leads, guides, and directs us. Perfection isn’t possible, but God is present and will help us adjust when needed.
From the small everyday decisions of what to cook and wear to the bigger concerns associated with navigating a global pandemic, God encourages us to move forward each day by trusting in Him.
As a mom and in life, keep moving forward.
Reflection Question: What is one area that you are looking to move forward as a mom? Seek God’s guidance in prayer.
