A Damsel's DiarySýnishorn
I remember driving on Interstate 610. It was a long day at work, and I was desperate to get home. I wanted to get out of the car. It was hot. It had been a long day, and I was tired. The vehicles were at a standstill; I felt like I would never get to my destination.
I moved from lane to lane to no avail.
Why was everything at a standstill?
I hated being stuck! I was not too fond of the process of waiting. Can you relate? There are so many times when we want to be somewhere, but it takes forever to get there. We try to rush the process. We try to switch lanes. We want to rush to get to our destination. But have we ever stopped to consider why there is a sudden delay?
What if God is asking us to wait?
To wait on Him. To wait on His time, His moment, our season.
Back to my story. On that same highway, I eventually figured out why there was traffic.
A significant accident happened 30 minutes before, and it had all the cars backed up. I stopped to think. Oh, my goodness! I had a new patient right before my shift was over, which caused me to be delayed at work for an extra 30 minutes. I should have been on the highway 30 minutes before I was.
What if God had not delayed me in that way. What if!
Often, we are in a rush, but we have no clue what the Father is doing. There is purpose in waiting. The waiting season has an assignment. It is there to STOP you, PREPARE you, PRESERVE you or TEACH you a lesson. You cannot afford to rush this process, or you might be prematurely exposed to something that wasn’t meant for you.
So, I want to encourage you today:
Therefore, be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts for the coming of the Lord is at hand (James 5:7-8).
His time is right. His time is the best! His time is the perfect option!! And in your waiting, seek Him. In your waiting, cry out to Him. In your waiting, ask Him for clarity, purpose, posture, and strength to persevere through the wait.
It is when we wait patiently on the Lord that we can hear clearly as He inclines His ear unto us and hears our cry.
He speaks even in the waiting period; you just have to be still and hear Him.
Prayer
Sweet Jesus,
I come to You. I realize that I have been impatient. I repent of my sins, and I present my whole life back into Your hands. Help me, Jesus, to trust in my waiting season. Help me seek you and speak to You through the moments when You want to hear my voice. I submit my ears, my heart, and my entire being unto Your will.
Use me as You will.
