A Damsel's Diary

DAY 2 OF 5

For too long, we have lived life like the breath that we breathe is our own.  I don’t know about you, but I have certainly taken such privilege for granted.  I have gone to sleep with the expectation that I would wake up the next day.  I even planned my day without the thought of what God’s plans were for my life.  All I knew was, I had things to do, and I would get it done once I woke up.  I even went to the extent of consulting others for direction before speaking to the Father.  Thank God I don’t live with that mentality anymore.  I didn’t realize how much it was depriving me of walking in the greater purpose and plan God had for me.  I planned without praying.

I walked without wisdom.  I ran without resistance.  I forgot about the Creator of my life, especially when things were bright.  But then when the gloomy nights came, when the valley hit, and when the storm rushed in – I ran to the Father.  And guess what, He still rescued me.  He knew that I was but a child, and I didn’t know better.  I was in control of my life, and I asked Him to take the passenger seat.  I can’t even begin to imagine the number of times He had to take over the wheel to save my life forcefully.  Thank God for His grace.

Have you been there?  Have you found yourself driving and putting the Father in the back seat? Have you asked Him to honor your steps AFTER you have made decisions without His consent?  I bet you have.  I know I have.  But God is such a “gracious God.  He is full of compassion. [He] protects the simpleminded.  When [we] were in great need, He saved [us} Psalm 116:5-6.

Oh, what a friend we have in Jesus.  All our sins and grieves to bear.

God knows that we will mess up.  He knows that we lust after the things of the flesh, so He gives us “do-overs”.  He is always there to save us.  But can I be honest?  We often fall into the ditch before we realize that there was a clear pathway in front of us.  The Pathway is Jesus. He has been there all along.  He desires to take the wheel, take control, and lead us peacefully to where He wants us to be.  The truth is, He knows the correct route.  The route that will end in blessings, grace, wealth, wisdom, faithfulness, and the list goes on.  But He awaits permission.  He is a gentleman.  He will never force us to do that which we do not want to do.  He is waiting for us to get out of the driver’s seat and give it up to Him.  He knows the way.  He is the navigation system.  He wants us to sit in the passenger’s seat so that both you and I can let the window down, close our eyes and enjoy the ride.

Will you let Him have the seat today?  He wants it.

Prayer

Father,

I need You to be in control, Jesus. Therefore, I humbly surrender my entire being into Your hands.  I gracefully give You permission to lead me into the path that You have destined for me.  I am no longer bound by the words of man. I will not allow the chatter to control my life. My time is my time, and You have already prepared a table for me in Your time. I refuse to operate on my self-made clock.  I trust you, Lord, that your plans for me are prefect, they are yes and amen. I am willing to let you have your rightful place in my life, Lord. Here’s my heart, Lord. Please take your seat.

About this Plan

A Damsel's Diary

Without God, we chase after purpose with no direction. We experiment until when we think we have found our thing. Life was never designed to be complicated. We can walk in purpose when we walk with God. We can find direction when we submit to Him. As you read through this devotional the Holy Spirit, who crafted these words, will help you find God's voice and purpose for your life.
