You Need This Answer...

"Can I smoke as a Christian?" "Can I leave my husband?" "Can I allow my children to stay out in clubs until late at night?"

I receive such questions often. People approach me at my book table after events, not because they want to buy a book, but because they need that one answer from me to the question that occupies their thoughts.

This trust touches me, but it’s misplaced in that moment. If I were to offer an answer, I would have to sit down and hear the whole story, preferably from both sides. I would need to know the backgrounds and so on.

And even then, it would not be guaranteed that I have the right answer because these people don't need just an answer; they need God’s answer.

That's why this trust needs to be placed in the right location:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Have respect for the LORD and avoid evil.." (Proverbs 3:5-7 NIRV).

Trusting in God is so much more important and valuable because He can and wants to meet you right where you are. And since only He knows exactly where you are right now, with all your emotions, hurts, and questions, only He can give you the right answer. And He gives it to you out of His love—a helping, healing answer. You can trust in that.

When should you stop constantly asking others for help, and instead start taking your questions to God?

You are a miracle!
