We Were Made to Be Courageous

JOU 3 SOU 5

Hebrews 4:15, 16 says:

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I go to these verses for more than just relief from my bouts with anxiety and lack of confidence, they’re great for conquering temptations of the flesh as well, but for the sake of this devotional, we’re going to stay on the subject of overcoming our anxieties.

If you take them at face value, you get a beautiful reminder of how amazing our God is, but there’s one line worth unpacking a little bit more. The Bible literally tells you to approach God WITH CONFIDENCE. The Creator of the universe, the one who split time in two in the span of 33 years wants YOU to come boldly to His throne, so that you can receive His mercy and grace.

If you feel like you’ve got two left feet, He will teach you to dance. He will meet you right where you’re at and cover your ungraceful parts with His own Grace. All you have to do is ask. It may not be a split second transformation or even overnight, but as you grow closer to Him and replace your idle, earthly sorrowed thoughts with His word, you will convalesce.

Now let’s stay in the verses of Hebrews 4:15, 16 and think about what they mean to us.

We Were Made to Be Courageous

Do you sometimes set too high of a standard for yourself in even the most casual of social interactions? You’re not alone! My hope is that this plan will give you a healthy train of thought to follow in growing your confidence, as well as shedding unrealistic expectations, and grow in our courage the way the Bible tells us to.
