Izrayèl pati avèk tou sa li te genyen. L'al Bècheba, li touye bèt, li ofri yo bay Bondye Izarak, papa li. Jou lannwit sa a, Bondye pale ak Izrayèl nan rèv, li di l: — Jakòb! Jakòb! Jakòb reponn: — Men mwen wi. Bondye di li: — Mwen se Bondye, Bondye papa ou la. Ou pa bezwen pè desann ale nan peyi Lejip paske m'ap fè pitit pitit ou yo tounen yon gwo pèp laba a. M'ap desann avè ou nan peyi Lejip, m'ap fè pitit pitit ou yo tounen isit la ankò. Se Jozèf ki va fèmen je ou lè w'a mouri.

Jacob se met en route avec tout ce qu’il possède. Il arrive à Berchéba. Là, il offre des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac. Cette nuit-là, Dieu lui parle pendant qu’il dort. Il l’appelle : « Jacob ! Jacob ! » Jacob répond : « Oui, je t’écoute. » Dieu lui dit : « Je suis Dieu, le Dieu de ton père. N’aie pas peur d’aller en Égypte. En effet, là-bas, les enfants de tes enfants seront si nombreux qu’ils formeront un grand peuple. Je pars avec toi en Égypte, et c’est moi aussi qui te ferai revenir. Quand tu mourras, Joseph te fermera les yeux. »

So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”

Moi-même je t’accompagnerai en Egypte, et moi-même aussi, je te l’assure, je t’en ferai revenir ; et c’est Joseph qui te fermera les yeux.
