Izarak di l: — Ou wè jan m fin vye. Mwen pa konn ki jou m'ap mouri. Tanpri, pran zam ou yo, flèch ou yo ak banza ou la. Ale nan bwa a, chase jibye pou mwen. Lèfini, pare vyann lan jan ou konnen mwen renmen l lan, pote l ban mwen. M'a manje. Epi m'a ba ou benediksyon mwen anvan m mouri. Rebeka menm t'ap koute sa Izarak t'ap di Ezayi, gason li an. Ezayi soti, l'ale lachas pou papa li. Lè sa a, Rebeka di Jakòb, pitit li a: — Men mwen fenk tande papa ou di Ezayi, frè ou la: Al chase jibye pote pou mwen, kwit li, m'a manje. Apre sa, m'a beni ou devan Senyè a anvan m mouri. Kounyeya, pitit mwen, koute sa m'ap di ou: Fè sa m'ap mande ou la. Ale pran de jenn kabrit byen gra nan bann lan, pote yo ban mwen. M'a pare yo pou papa ou jan m konnen li renmen l lan. W'a pote l bay papa ou, l'a manje, l'a beni ou anvan l mouri. Jakòb reponn manman l: — Men manman, Ezayi, frè mwen an, gen pwal sou tout kò li. Mwen menm, po pa m lis. Si papa m manyen m, l'a wè se twonpe m'ap twonpe l. Lè sa a pase li ban mwen benediksyon, la ban m madichon pito. Men manman an reponn: — Madichon l'a ba ou a va tonbe sou mwen, pitit mwen. Ou menm, fè sa mwen di ou fè a, al chache kabrit yo mennen ban mwen.

Isaac est devenu vieux. Sa vue a beaucoup baissé et il ne voit plus rien. Il appelle son fils aîné et lui dit : « Ésaü ! » Celui-ci répond : « Oui, père, je t’écoute. » Isaac continue : « Tu le vois, je suis vieux. Je ne sais pas combien de temps je vais vivre encore. Prends donc tes armes, ton arc et tes flèches. Va à la chasse dans la campagne et rapporte-moi du gibier. Puis prépare-moi un plat, comme je l’aime. Apporte-le-moi, et je le mangerai. Ensuite, je te donnerai ma bénédiction avant de mourir. » Pendant qu’Isaac parle avec son fils Ésaü, Rébecca écoute. Puis Ésaü part à la chasse dans la campagne pour rapporter de la viande. Rébecca dit à Jacob son fils : « J’ai entendu ton père dire à Ésaü : “Apporte-moi du gibier et prépare un bon plat que je mangerai. Ensuite, je te donnerai ma bénédiction devant le SEIGNEUR avant de mourir.” Maintenant, mon fils, écoute-moi, et fais ce que je te commande. Va au troupeau. Rapporte-moi deux beaux cabris. Je préparerai pour ton père un bon plat comme il l’aime. Tu l’apporteras à ton père pour qu’il le mange. Alors il te donnera sa bénédiction avant de mourir. » Jacob répond à sa mère : « Ésaü est couvert de poils, pas moi. Si mon père me touche, il se rendra bien compte que je le trompe. Et j’attirerai sur moi sa malédiction et non sa bénédiction. » Sa mère répond : « Je prends cette malédiction sur moi, mon fils. Écoute-moi seulement et va me chercher ces cabris. »

When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called for Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” he answered. Isaac said, “I am now an old man and don’t know the day of my death. Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me. Prepare me the kind of tasty food I like and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give you my blessing before I die.” Now Rebekah was listening as Isaac spoke to his son Esau. When Esau left for the open country to hunt game and bring it back, Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father say to your brother Esau, ‘Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat, so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the LORD before I die.’ Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you: Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so I can prepare some tasty food for your father, just the way he likes it. Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may give you his blessing before he dies.” Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “But my brother Esau is a hairy man while I have smooth skin. What if my father touches me? I would appear to be tricking him and would bring down a curse on myself rather than a blessing.” His mother said to him, “My son, let the curse fall on me. Just do what I say; go and get them for me.”

Quand Isaac était devenu vieux, sa vue avait baissé au point qu’il n’y voyait plus. Un jour, il appela Esaü son fils aîné et lui dit : Mon fils ! Celui-ci répondit : Qu’y a-t-il ? – Me voici devenu vieux, reprit Isaac, et je ne sais pas quand je mourrai. Maintenant donc, je te prie, prends tes armes, ton arc et tes flèches, va courir la campagne et chasse quelque gibier pour moi. Tu m’en apprêteras un de ces bons plats comme je les aime, tu me le serviras, je mangerai, puis je te donnerai ma bénédiction avant de mourir. Rébecca écoutait ce qu’Isaac disait à son fils Esaü. Quand celui-ci fut parti chasser dans la campagne pour rapporter du gibier, Rébecca dit à son fils Jacob : Ecoute, j’ai entendu ton père dire à ton frère Esaü : « Rapporte-moi du gibier ! Tu m’en feras un bon plat, je mangerai et je te donnerai ma bénédiction devant l’Eternel avant de mourir. » Maintenant donc, mon fils, écoute-moi et fais ce que je vais te dire. Va au troupeau et choisis-moi deux bons chevreaux, j’en préparerai pour ton père un de ces bons plats comme il les aime. Tu le lui apporteras, il en mangera, puis il te donnera sa bénédiction avant de mourir. Jacob répondit à Rébecca, sa mère : Esaü mon frère est couvert de poils et moi pas. Si mon père me touche, il s’apercevra que j’ai voulu le tromper, si bien que j’attirerai sur moi une malédiction au lieu d’une bénédiction. Sa mère répliqua : Dans ce cas, que la malédiction retombe sur moi, mon fils ; fais seulement ce que je t’ai dit. Va me chercher cela.
