Bondye reponn li nan rèv la: — Wi. Mwen konnen ou fè sa ou fè a san okenn move lide dèyè tèt ou. Se poutèt sa mwen pa kite ou fè peche sa a kont mwen. Mwen pa kite ou fè madanm lan anyen. Men sa pou ou fè: renmèt nonm lan madanm li. Se yon pwofèt Bondye li ye. L'a lapriyè pou ou pou ou pa mouri. Men, si ou pa renmèt li, mwen tou di ou nou pral mouri, ou menm ansanm ak tout fanmi ou.

Dieu lui répond dans un rêve : « Tu étais sincère, je le sais, moi aussi. Et c’est moi qui t’ai empêché de faire une faute contre moi. C’est pourquoi je ne t’ai pas laissé toucher cette femme. Maintenant, rends-la à son mari. C’est un prophète. Il priera pour que tu restes en vie. Si tu ne la rends pas, tu dois savoir ceci : tu mourras sûrement, toi et toute ta famille. »

Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her. Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.”

Dieu lui répondit en songe : Je sais, moi aussi, que tu as agi en toute bonne conscience. C’est pourquoi je t’ai empêché de commettre un péché contre moi et je ne t’ai pas laissé la toucher. Maintenant, renvoie cette femme à son mari, car c’est un prophète. Il priera pour toi et tu resteras en vie. Mais si tu ne la lui rends pas, sache que tu mourras, toi et tous les tiens.
