Senyè a di Moyiz konsa: — Se kounyeya ou pral wè sa m pral fè farawon an. Mwen pral fè l santi fòs ponyèt mwen. Vle pa vle, l'ap kite yo ale. Wi, m'ap fòse l sitèlman, se mete l'ap mete yo deyò nan peyi li a. Bondye pale ak Moyiz, li di l: — Se mwen menm ki Senyè a. Mwen te fè Abraram, Izarak ak Jakòb konnen m sou non Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a. Mwen pat fè yo konnen m sou lòt non mwen an, ki vle di: Senyè a. Mwen te pase yon kontra ak yo, mwen te pwomèt pou m te ba yo peyi Kanaran an, peyi kote yo te viv tankou etranje a. Kounyeya, mwen tande jan pèp Izrayèl la ap plenn. Moun peyi Lejip yo fè yo tounen esklav. Mwen vin chonje kontra mwen te pase ak yo a. Men sa ou pral di moun pèp Izrayèl yo: Se mwen menm menm ki Senyè a. M'ap ban nou libète nou, m'ap wete nou nan travay di moun peyi Lejip yo ap fòse nou fè a. M'ap delivre nou anba esklavaj kote yo mete nou an. M'ap lonje bra m pou m delivre nou, pou pini moun peyi Lejip yo byen pini. M'ap adopte nou pou pèp mwen, mwen menm m'a Bondye nou. N'a konnen se mwen menm Senyè a, Bondye nou an, ki ban nou libète nou, ki wete nou nan travay di moun peyi Lejip yo ap fòse nou fè a. Apre sa, m'ap mennen nou tounen nan peyi mwen te sèmante m'ap bay Abraram, Izarak ak Jakòb la. Se mwen menm Senyè a k'ap ban nou peyi sa a pou l rele nou chèmèt. Moyiz di pèp Izrayèl la sa, men yo pat vle kwè l, paske yo te about. Esklavaj la te peze lou sou yo. Lè sa a, Senyè a di Moyiz konsa: — Ale bò kote farawon an, wa Lejip la. Di l konsa pou l kite pèp Izrayèl la sòti kite peyi l la. Men, Moyiz di Senyè a: — Ata pèp Izrayèl la pat koute m, atò se farawon an ki ta koute m? Mwen tou pa konn pale. Senyè a pale ak Moyiz ansanm ak Arawon. Li ba yo lòd pale ak pèp Izrayèl la ansanm ak farawon an, wa Lejip la, pou fè yo konnen yo tou de te resevwa lòd fè pèp Izrayèl la sòti kite peyi Lejip.

Le SEIGNEUR répond à Moïse : « Eh bien, maintenant, tu vas voir ce que je vais faire au roi d’Égypte. Ma main puissante l’obligera à laisser partir les Israélites. À cause de ma main puissante, il va même les chasser de son pays. » Dieu parle encore à Moïse : « LE SEIGNEUR, c’est moi. Autrefois, je me suis montré à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob comme le Dieu tout-puissant. Mais je ne leur ai pas fait connaître mon nom “LE SEIGNEUR”. J’ai fait alliance avec eux. J’ai promis de leur donner le pays de Canaan, où ils habitaient comme étrangers. Maintenant, j’entends les plaintes des Israélites, qui sont esclaves des Égyptiens. Et je me souviens de mon alliance avec eux. C’est pourquoi, va dire aux Israélites de ma part : “Le SEIGNEUR, c’est moi. Je vais vous arracher aux travaux forcés. Je vais vous libérer de l’esclavage que les Égyptiens font peser sur vous. Grâce à ma puissance et à mon autorité, je vous libérerai. Je vous prendrai comme mon peuple à moi et je serai votre Dieu. Vous saurez ceci : le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, c’est moi, celui qui vous arrache aux travaux forcés de l’Égypte. J’ai juré de donner un pays à Abraham, Isaac et Jacob. Eh bien, je vous ferai entrer dans ce pays-là, et il sera à vous. Le SEIGNEUR, c’est moi.” » Moïse va redire ces paroles aux Israélites, mais ils ne l’écoutent pas. En effet, ils sont découragés par leur dur esclavage. Le SEIGNEUR dit encore à Moïse : « Va parler au Pharaon, roi d’Égypte. Demande-lui de laisser partir les Israélites de son pays. » Mais Moïse répond au SEIGNEUR : « Même les Israélites ne m’ont pas écouté. Alors comment le roi d’Égypte pourra-t-il m’écouter, moi qui parle si difficilement ? » Alors le SEIGNEUR commande à Moïse et à Aaron : « Allez ensemble trouver les Israélites et le Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, pour que les Israélites puissent sortir de ce pays. »

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.” God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them. I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’ ” Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.” But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?” Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

L’Eternel dit à Moïse : Maintenant, tu vas voir ce que je vais faire au pharaon. Sous l’emprise d’une main puissante, non seulement il laissera partir le peuple, mais il le chassera lui-même de son pays. Puis Dieu ajouta : Je suis l’Eternel. Je me suis révélé à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob comme le Dieu tout-puissant, mais je n’ai pas été connu par eux sous mon nom : l’Eternel. Je me suis engagé par mon alliance avec eux à leur donner le pays de Canaan, ce pays où ils étaient étrangers et où ils ont mené une vie errante. De plus, j’ai entendu les gémissements des Israélites réduits à l’esclavage par les Egyptiens, et je me suis souvenu de mon alliance. C’est pourquoi dis-leur de ma part : « Je suis l’Eternel ! Je vous soustrairai aux corvées auxquelles les Egyptiens vous soumettent : je vous libérerai de l’esclavage qu’ils vous imposent, et je vous délivrerai par la force de mon bras et en exerçant de terribles jugements. Je vous prendrai pour mon peuple, et je serai votre Dieu. Ainsi vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel votre Dieu qui vous affranchis des corvées que les Egyptiens vous imposent. Puis je vous ferai entrer dans le pays que j’ai juré de donner à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob ; je vous le donnerai pour qu’il vous appartienne, moi, l’Eternel. » Moïse répéta ces paroles aux Israélites, mais ils ne l’écoutèrent pas parce qu’ils étaient démoralisés, à cause de leur dur esclavage. L’Eternel parla à Moïse et lui dit : Va demander au pharaon, roi d’Egypte, de laisser partir les Israélites de son pays. Mais Moïse lui répondit : Même les Israélites ne m’ont pas écouté. Comment le pharaon m’écouterait-il, moi qui n’ai pas la parole facile ? L’Eternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron et leur ordonna d’aller trouver les Israélites et le pharaon, roi d’Egypte, pour faire sortir les Israélites d’Egypte.
