Apre sa, Natan al lakay li. Senyè a fè pitit madanm Ouri te fè pou David la vin malad grav. David tonbe lapriyè Senyè a pou ti gason an. Li derefize mete anyen nan bouch li. Chak swa, li antre nan chanm li, li pase nwit lan kouche atè. Chèf ki te reskonsab palè li a al jwenn li, yo fè sa yo kapab pou fè l leve atè a, men li derefize. Konsa tou, li pat vle manje avèk yo.

Ensuite Natan rentre chez lui. Le SEIGNEUR envoie une maladie à l’enfant que la femme d’Urie a donné à David. David supplie Dieu pour l’enfant. Il se met à jeûner, et quand il rentre chez lui pour la nuit, il couche par terre. Ses serviteurs les plus respectés viennent auprès de lui et ils l’invitent à se relever. Mais le roi refuse et ne veut rien manger avec eux.

After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill. David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground. The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them.

Le roi implora Dieu en sa faveur, il s’imposa un jeûne et passa toute la nuit prostré à terre. Les hauts responsables du palais insistèrent auprès de lui pour qu’il se lève, mais il refusa et ne consentit pas à manger avec eux.
