Easter With the King

DAY 5 OF 5

Crown Jewels

The Royal Crown: Luke 24:1-12

Theme Verse: 2 Timothy 2:5

Throughout history, royal treasures have symbolized power, authority, and honor. Among these treasures, crowns, scepters, and precious jewels represent the glory and majesty of kings and queens. These special royal collections can contain various crowns, jewel-covered swords, staffs, trumpets, robes, orbs, rings, and scepters. These priceless items are passed down from one ruler to the next, signifying the continuation of royal authority.

Yet, no earthly crown can compare to the glory of Jesus Christ, the King above all kings. On that first Resurrection Sunday, the tomb was empty because Jesus had risen from the dead—He lives forever! The Bible tells us that Jesus reigns eternally, seated on His heavenly throne at the right hand of God the Father.

Over 2,000 years ago, during the first Holy Week, a crown of thorns was placed on Jesus' head as a symbol of mockery and suffering. But Jesus willingly bore that pain, trading His crown of thorns for a crown of gold—a crown far more valuable than any earthly treasure. Revelation 14:14 references this victorious image of Jesus crowned in glory.

Even more amazing is Jesus' promise to His followers. As His beloved children, we are promised crowns of our own—crowns of righteousness, life, and glory. These heavenly rewards far surpass any earthly riches.

This Easter Week, let us celebrate our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who reigns forever in majesty and offers us eternal life with Him.

Questions:

1. A crown is a major reward. What minor awards might be available for us?

2. What competition might there be among Christians, since being greater means being a servant of all? (Matthew 23:11)

3. What can you do this week to celebrate the King of Kings and His glorious resurrection?

About this Plan

Easter With the King

This 5-day Easter Bible reading plan by Kristi Krauss invites you to celebrate Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Throughout history, royalty has been honored with crowns and grand ceremonies, yet no ruler compares to Jesus, whose eternal reign brings true peace, hope, and salvation. Over 2,000 years ago, He bore a crown of thorns, later exchanged for a crown of glory. This Easter, let us reflect on His sacrifice, rejoice in His resurrection, and give glory to our eternal King!
