:Enables us and encourages us to develop spiritual growth and maturity
:We all have a significance in life and God wants to accomplish so much but it starts with us
:When we spend time focusing on what lies ahead for you and I we notice that these disciplines become a part of us

:States that when we train ourselves consistently we develop a sense of self-control
:Refers to our ability to control or take control or restrain ourselves from all kinds of feelings, impulses, and desires
:All of this is done through the work of Christ and our relationship with him
-Pursuing a lifestyle with the character of God
God's goal for you and I is to be more like him
-Pursuing God influences our character and conduct but also our attitudes
1.Devotion in action- Having a personal attitude that is seeking to please God
2.Focus on God or God-centered focus
-Fear of God
-Love of God
-Desire for God
-Godliness is this active act of obedience that springs from a reverent awe of God
-Real health begins from within
