WHO ARE YOU? PART 3

· YOU ARE ONE GOD HAD COMPASSION ON

Compassion: to help the wretched, to succor the afflicted or the ones seeking aid, to have mercy on.
To feel with sympathy in the heart and act upon

1 Peter 2:10 APBE
You are those who at the first were not considered a people, but now are the people of God, neither were mercies upon you, but now mercies are poured out upon you.

1Timothy 1:12-14CJB
12 and I thank the one who has given me strength, the Messiah Yeshua, our Lord, that he considered me trustworthy enough to put me in his service, 13 even though I used to be a man who blasphemed and persecuted and was arrogant! But I received mercy because I had acted in unbelief, not understanding what I was doing. 14 Our Lord’s grace overflowed to me with trust and love that come through the Messiah Yeshua.

2 Corinthians 4:1 NET
Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, we do not become discouraged. (NLT: we never give up)

YESHUA-JESUS IS MERCIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE

IN LUKE 17, TEN LEPERS CRY FOR MERCY AND JESUS CLEANSES THEM ALL

BLIND BEGGAR OF JERICHO SHOUTS LOUDLY FOR YESHUA TO SHOW MERCY AS HE PASSED BY

LUKE 18:35-43 NLT
35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. 36 When he heard the noise of a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him that Jesus the Nazarene was going by. 38 So he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 “Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord,” he said, “I want to see!”42 And Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.” 43 Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus, praising God. And all who saw it praised God, too.

THE DEMON POSESSED MAN OF THE GADARENES

Mark 5:1-20 MEV
They went to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gadarenes. 2 When He had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs and met Him. 3 He lived among the tombs. And no one could constrain him, not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. But he had pulled the chains apart and broken the shackles to pieces. And no one could subdue him. 5 Always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran up and kneeled before Him, 7 and cried out with a loud voice, “What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure You by God, do not torment me.” 8 For Jesus said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”9 Then He asked him, “What is your name?”He answered, “My name is Legion. For we are many.” 10 And he begged Him repeatedly not to send them away out of the country.11 Now there was a great herd of swine feeding near the mountains. 12 All the demons pleaded with Him, asking, “Send us to the swine, so that we may enter them.” 13 At once, Jesus gave them leave. Then the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine. And the herd, numbering about two thousand, ran wildly down a steep hill into the sea and were drowned in the sea.14 Those who fed the swine fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And people went out to see what it was that had happened. 15 They came to Jesus and saw him who had been possessed with the legion of demons sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 16 Those who saw it told them how it befell him who had been possessed with the demons and also concerning the swine. 17 Then they began to plead with Him to depart out of their region.18 When He entered the boat, he who had been possessed with the demons prayed Him that he might be with Him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how He has had compassion on you.”20 So he departed and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed.

· BUILD ON THE FOUNDATION

· PRAYING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

· BE PATIENT IN THE PROCESS

· BEING MERCIFUL TO THE CULTURE, BUT DON’T LET IT PULL YOU INTO SIN!

Jude 1:20-23 LB
20 But you, dear friends, must build up your lives ever more strongly upon the foundation of our holy faith, learning to pray in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.
21 Stay always within the boundaries where God’s love can reach and bless you. Wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy is going to give you. 22 Try to help those who argue against you. Be merciful to those who doubt. 23 Save some by snatching them as from the very flames of hell itself. And as for others, help them to find the Lord by being kind to them, but be careful that you yourselves aren’t pulled along into their sins. Hate every trace of their sin while being merciful to them as sinners.

ACCORDING TO ROMANS 12:8

THERE IS A MINISTRY OF COMPASSION AND MERCY NEEDED IN THE CHURCH TO BE COUPLED WITH JOY & CHEERFULNESS

Jesus tells a parable about what happens when those who received mercy are not merciful to others.

Matthew 1823-35 MEV
23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began to settle the accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But since he was not able to pay, his master ordered that he be sold with his wife, their children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 “So the servant fell on his knees, pleading with him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe.’29 “So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and entreated him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’30 “But he would not and went and threw him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what took place, they were very sorry and went and told their master all that had taken place.32 “Then his master, after he had summoned him, said to him, ‘O you wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you?’34 His master was angry and delivered him to the jailers until he should pay all his debt. 35 “So also My heavenly Father will do to each of you, if from your heart you do not forgive your brother for his trespasses.”
Luke 18:41
41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
